At Fancy Feathers in Sidney, Iowa, there is plenty of time to horse around with our staff if you are interested in horse riding, cart driving, grooming or just being around them. That's because we "employ" lovable horses who are the backbone of our business. These noble horses can become your therapy buddy and your best friend. They are loyal and trustworthy, with the compassion to know how to help and make you smile. From draft to miniature size, you can start small and work your way up
Message from the Founder- Christi
I am a veteran who is disabled, physically and mentally, from PTSD, anxiety and personal challenges after my time serving in the Navy. After so many years of struggling to fit in and failing; then just hiding from public activities I stumbled upon a miniature horse name Beasley. I had an automatic connection with this small guy and began my path with post traumatic development therapy. From grooming to training we both helped one another grow and he has brought me so far out of my shell that I was even able to attend my son and daughter's graduations. Along the way, I also fell in love with an uncommon breed of horse new to North America . They are known as Gypsy Vanners. Their disposition and loving affection have gained them the saying of being the "golden retrievers" of the horse world. With my furry friends we have developed a program for the disable both physical and mental; and hopefully be able to make their lives brighter one smile at a time. Now the mission of this veteran is to give back to those who need to find their path with the help of my fury staff. Development of land along with building of a barn, arena, fencing and making sure it is ADA (American Disability Act) compliant. With every donation we become a step closer. All donations will be honored with the name of the donor on a horse show plaque attached to barn. I along with all involved thank you for taking time to read our story and hopefully this will help us reach our dream of "Creating One Smile At A Time".

Fancy Feathers Gypsy Vanners is destined to become a premier Vanner farm in the Midwest. With a small, well-bred herd with correct conformation and beautiful way of movement, Fancy Feathers Gypsies take my breath away...These Gypsies have amazing temperaments and a calm (and clownish!) curiosity that makes them a true pleasure to be around! The caring nature of the owners, the pride they take in their herd, and their deep love for the breed is reflected in the meticulous care they provide these beautiful horses; from feeding and grooming to training and play, these horses receive the best loving care.
